The two sides were expected to face off in the 34th match of the tournament and desperately needed a win as both had four wins after playing seven games prior to this fixture.
However, duo to the cancelation of the game, both teams were awarded a point each, placing Chennai Super Kings at third spot with Challengers right behind them.
With the covers coming on and off, though the showers never went away, it was a frustrating day for fans, who had gathered to see the highly anticipated clash between the two teams in the tournament.
