Royal Challengers Bangalore v Pune Warriors – IPL 5 – Bangalore snatch a clinical glory – Live Cricket Score and Update
Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 182/6 (20/20 ov) v Royal Challengers Bangalore 186/4 (20/20) - Bangalore won by 6 wickets (with 0 balls remaining)
After being hammered for a staggering total of 182 runs in the second match of the day in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore, defying all odds, beat rivals Pune Warriors by chasing down the mammoth total for the loss of four wickets on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
Bangalore received an early blow when they lost their first wicket with only seven runs on the board, as opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 perished after scoring just four runs off eight deliveries.
This was certainly not the start the side had hoped for as they knew they needed a solid start in order to come closer to the required target.
However, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 on the crease, anything was possible, and this fact was not oblivious for Pune, who knew they needed to see the back of the hard-hitting opener as soon as possible.
Gayle was not going to wait for anything as he launched a batting onslaught on his own, while his partner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mayank-Agarwal-c1937, stood on the other end.
Finally with 42 runs on the board, Agarwal lost his wicket after scoring nine runs off 10 deliveries.
With two wickets down, one would think that should have halted Gayle, but the opener was in no mood to relax as he kept belting the bowlers out of the park in pursuit of victory.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737, contributed 16 runs, before becoming the third wicket to fall, leaving his side standing on 72 runs.
Nonetheless it was the resilient innings from Gayle that took the side closer to victory as the batsman hammered a blatant knock of 81 runs off just 48 deliveries before losing his wicket. At the time of his demise, Royals had amassed 127 runs on the board.
Later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 sailed their side to victory by hammering 36 and 33 runs, as the side won the match for the loss of four wickets.
CH Gayle was named as the Player of the Match for his emphatic knock.
