Royal Delta at Besilu Stables and it remains to be see whether the filly will come out to race next year or not
The Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic winning 3-year-old filly, Royal Delta, got sold to Besilu Stables on 8 November, 2011, at Keeneland.
Daughter of the excellent sire Empire Maker, out of Delta Princess and the stakes winning daughter of Horse of the Year and superlative sire A.P. Indy. Three-year-old Royal Delta proved after her win in the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic that she is the finest
sophomore filly in the whole of America.
The Bill Mott trained under raced filly Royal Delta has only raced eight times in her 2-year-old racing career and in that period she has gone on to land the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on dirt at about 1 1/8 miles at Pimlico under jockey J Lezcano
on 20 May, 2011.
Running over at 1 1/8 miles for the first time in her racing career, Royal Delta took out the likes of Buster Ready and Hot Summer to cover the distance in 1 minute and 49.60 seconds.
Before winning the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic Royals Delta’s ultimate achievement was winning the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga on 20 August, 2011, over at 1 ¼ miles.
The filly looked like a million bucks when she romped past a heavily competitive caste to win the prestigious race, and then afterwards took on the far more mature Havre de Grace in the Grade 1 Beldame Stakes.
Where she was just off the mark, and finished second behind the winner at Belmont Park. Now talking about Havre de Grace, she was able to hold on to the prime form when she turned “4” and her maturity speaks for itself, as the filly has gone on to win big
in her 4-year-old racing a season.
The fans would love to see Royal Delta race again, a far more mature filly who has done remarkably well throughout her racing career, and now especially after winning the Ladies’ Classic her fans would want to see her on the track topple records.
Her sire retired due to an injury after only eight starts, and Royal Delta is sold after eight starts, all the fan wants to know that they have seen her run eight races, can they see her run eight more?
