Royal Mail: Do rural/village post offices still chop their mail with a chop that has the village name on it?

When I was a kid, I used to mail myself something wherever I go so that there was some proof of where I've been and not just a blank postcard. Is the mail still chopped in the villages or are they all chopped centrally now ?

  1. They mainly go central, but some places

for instance ' Lover ' in Wiltshire get the

the local stamp or chop as you put it, for St. Valentines Day.

Maybe others do the same somewhere

    but I'm not certain..

  2. at my bank I see chop marks on most of the one hundred dollar bills.  Some people collect chop marks.
