Royal Mail unveils official London 2012 Olympic Games stamps
The Royal Mail has recently made public the official stamps for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The unveiling of the stamps has been done a total of 213 days before the start of the Olympic Games on the July 27th.
There is not only one kind of stamp that has been designed for the occasion, rather different types of stamps have been made official. Some stamps feature the logo of the Olympics while others have the emblem of the Paralympics. These two types of stamps
will be available in books. The stamp that has the Olympic logo is the one that is most common as it is more popular and easily identifiable. Moreover, people will feel more closely associated with the Olympic Games by buying the stamp with the Olympic logo
on it rather than different types of stamps.
However, these stamps are not yet made available to the general public and will not be made available until next year. The people will be able to get hold of the stamps by January 5th next year. The stamps will be available in a total of 11,800 branches
of the Royal Mail that are spread across the country.
The stamp with the Olympic logo marks the first time that it has been printed. The Olympic logo has never been the main image on any stamp yet. However, the stamp does not only feature the Olympic logo, it also has the queen printed in the upper right hand
side of the stamp.
This is the second time that the Olympic Games stamps have been printed. The first time was in 1948 when the Olympic Games were held in London for the second time. In 1948, only four Olympic Games stamps were issued by the Royal Mail. These four stamps had
the traditional five rings that are associated with the Olympic Games.
No stamps were issued the first time that the Olympic Games came to London, that was more than a century ago in 1908.
Next year will mark the third time that the Olympic Games come to London, making it the first city in the world to have hosted the event a total of three times.
