Royal Rascal ready for a big show at Ayr
Since debuting in May 2012, Royal Rascal has stepped out of the podium for just once. Her six-race career shows two triumphs, two thirds and one runner-up rank---what an impressive record! During the last four weeks, she remained off-field just to solidify
her form. These factors combine to make the Tim Easterby trained bay filly a strong candidate for today’s Laundry Cottage Stud Firth of Clyde Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) that will go down at Ayr.
Running under her regular jockey, David Allan, the two-year-old novice filly, will fight hard against seven strong rivals to earn £22,684. The 6-furlong racecourse has heavy surface that is quite new to the young runner, thus, she will take a little time
to adjust to it. However, this is not a big issue considering the way she performed in her previous outings.
Royal Rascal enjoys the rich legacy of Lucky Story and Royal Punch. Along with this, she is fortunate enough to be trained by Easterby. Thus, her skills are quite ripe and well-testified.
The young and ardent sprinter broke her maiden with the title of Reg Griffin Appreciation E B F Maiden Stakes that took place at York on June 16.
After finishing second in the Spindrifter Conditions Stakes of July 2, she again grabbed a grand victory in the John Smith's Stakes (Nursery Handicap) on July 14. That was the point when the punters came to realize the talent of the filly.
Royal Rascal ran well and gained a fifth and a third position in the two subsequent races of August respectively.
After August 23, she took a long break to go through some drills. Today, she looks offensive and momentous for the mega marathon.
However, the filly will have to be wary of City Girl who too has been at the top of her game since debuting in June 2012.
After finishing as the runner-up in each of her first two starts, the Ralph Beckett trained bay filly broke her maiden with the title of £32 Bonus At 32Red.com Maiden Fillies' Stakes, held at Lingfield on July 30.
Thus, an awe-inspiring clash is expected between the two mighty fillies. Good luck to them.
