Royal Straight set to seal success in Selling Stakes
Royal Straight is all se to seal a sterling success in the Selling Stakes when he will run at Hamilton racecourse on Wednesday, June 13. The high-stakes Class 6 contest will commence at 8:20 (GMT).
On the good course of 1 mile, 1 furlong and 36 yards, the Linda Perratt-trained experienced gelding will follow the prize cheque worth £1,941 against 5 rivals including Arabian Spirit, Iulus, Pendragon, Bella Noir and Little Thief.
Royal Straight has won 4 of his total 49 starts so far. His last victory came in October 2011. Since the dawn of 2012, the seven-year-old has been struggling for success but in vain.
However, he has delivered some impressive performance during this period. After getting a runner-up rank on May 6, he moved on to finish 6th in each of the two subsequent races during the same month.
For today’s Selling Stakes, he looks to be the strongest candidate as none of the other runners is capable enough to outstrip him.
Thus, Royal Straight will draw a big bankroll today. If he manages to run momentously, he will definitely have up to 80 percent chances to finish first.
Among the gelding’s competitors, Iulus and Bella Noir will have a tough tug of war for the second top spot.
Iulus started his career with a runner-up rank in June 2011. The John Quinn-trained young gelding elegantly broke his maiden in the very next outing on July 24.
Since the beginning of 2012, the novice sprinter has run for two times. First, he finished 9th on May 26 and then grabbed a runner-up rank on June 4.
On the other hand, Bella Noir elegantly finished as runner-up against a dozen of contestants in her last start on April 28, 2012. As a whole, the Mrs K. Burke-trained bay mare has won 2 of her total 15 starts so far.
Each one of this duo will fight hard to stay as a runner-up in the Selling Stakes while Royal Straight is likely to thrive emphatically. Overall, the event will be amazing and thrilling. Let us enjoy the live action at Hamilton. Good luck to all the 6 contestants.
