  1. yea there are standard american outlets. well on the cruise ships to the bahamas i have been on do

  2. I have been on about 8 Royal Caribbean cruises and they always have at least one outlet in the cabin, usually on or near the vanity table.   The outlet will have/use a standard USA plug but sometimes , depending upon the ship, they also have the capability to use the European plugs and there may be a switch to convert between them.  But you WILL be able to plug in your laptop to charge it.  But you should take a surge protector or an extension cord as the plug is not always in the best place.

In addition, you know that while your ship will have internet service and WiFi you will not be able to get online in your cabin.  You will have to go to one of several spots on the ship to get the wireless internet.  In addition, the rates (below) are very high:

depending on the ship there are two options for staying connected while onboard.

    Wireless Internet Access (Wi-Fi)

There will be six designated *"Hot Spots" which vary from ship to ship.

To use our WI-FI access, you'll need:

    A laptop

    Windows operating system

    802.11b Wireless networking capability

The cost for Wi-Fi access through your own laptop is:

Base rate is $.55 per minute or choose from one of our prepaid packages:

    $28.00 for 60 minutes

    $38.00 for 90 minutes

    $55.00 for 150 minutes

All prices are subject to change without notice.

    The Internet Cafe/Workstation

The cost is $.55 per minute or you can choose a prepaid package:

    $28.00 for 60 minutes

    $38.00 for 90 minutes

    $55.00 for 150 minutes

I also suggest that if you are bringing your laptop, bring a lock for one of your suitcases and when you are not in the cabin store the laptop in a suitcase and lock it.  Its best kept out of sight.

  3. Yes, all the outlets on the ship will use standard plugs...  One suggestion though, the number of outlets are limited, so you may want to bring one of those surge protector strips to give you a few extra outlets...  they come in handy.

  4. You really need to contact the Cruise line about the Exact Ship you are sailing on, as they are not all alike. Make sure if you use an extension plug with additional outlets it has a surge protector as I blew out my cabin Electric one time and it took the entire cruise to fix.
