Royal mail compensation with no proof of posatge?

Has anyone ever filed for compensation without proof of postage?

I'm an ebay seller and I printed off the postage label so I at least have proof that I paid the postage but this was a very rare occasion that I couldn't get to the post office so put it in a post box instead. So I have no actual proof that I posted it and it hasn't arrived even though I sent it nearly 2 weeks ago.

What I find suspicious is the only other time I've had something lost was again, when I sent it from a post box and didn't obtain a proof of postage certificate.

Has anyone else experienced the same and has anyone been able to get compensation?

  1. sticky wicket there... I sent a dvd back to love film, via the post box across from my flat... they never got it..

got nowhere with royal mail... and love film tried to charge me with the price of the dvd!

Lucky for me the actual dvd was faulty and before posting I'd already put on their site that I was sending a faulty disc back...

They finally gave up inthe end...

    sorry

  2. you wont be able to claim compensation without proof of postage ..

i always send things recorded or registered delivery , kos if i dont , they always get lost .. i thought it was a rogue po worker ,, but ive moved since .. so its a case of an incompetant company ...

  3. The post office lost 2 of my ebay items where I had attached stamps and put them in the box. I went through the claims process and got nowhere. Wrote to my MP who wrote to the CEO. Eventually they sent me 20 1st classs stamps as compensation. So from that day I go to the PO and insist on individual proof of posting certificates and watch the queue getting longer behind me

  4. I worked in the post office a few years ago and then i know you couldn't get comp without proof of postage,i think its maybe still the case unfortunately.

  5. Was the question so good you had to ask it twice?

  6. In some areas of UK the post office still did not recover from recent strikes and they have unsorted mail. Where I live, some people do not have items delivered since July. I received last week a parcel posted to me on August 18th.  Did you try to call Customer Service of Royal Mail to find out if this is not the case for the parcel which you sent?

  7. Sorry but I am sure you need proof of posting stamped by the Post Office.
