i sent a letter recorded mail last week, have been checking it since online and it says

"we do not have any information on this item, recorded signed for items are only available once it has been delivered, wait a few days.

it should definately be there i sent it last weekend.

im p*****d off cos i especially sent it recorded 1st class, i cant check with the company i sent it to as its weekend. its a very important letter.

why do they do this?

whats the point of actually paying the extra money if you dont get the service?

  1. Royal mail recorded delivery is a joke...... I have ordered alot of things from eBay and pay extra for the recorded delivery but the postal workers just shove them through the door and dont even bother to knock for a signature... which if you think about it is quite stupid because they will loose money when people claim they haven't received items which they did so they can claim on the insurance...... Is there no way you can contact the person you sent it to so you can find out if they have had it? They usually say 15 days before it is considered missing.... But if its still not saying anything then I would claim from them........ Good luck your gonna need it with the royal mail

Additional info...... I have also received other peoples parcels on a few occasions which clearly have a completely different name and address...... I even received a passport and a birth certificate once which if I wasnt an honest person who sent it on to the person it was intended for could have caused someone alot of trouble

  2. I had this happen when I sent a very expensive bag away for repair.  You can phone royal mail and ask about it, sometimes they just don't update the tracking information very quickly.  When I phoned they were able to tell me that my package had indeed been delivered and signed for.

  3. It sounds as though it has not been delivered yet and Royal Mail might have left a card at the recipient address to say a parcel needs to be signed for.  Try to telephone Royal Mail about it.

  4. it probably means no one was in to sign for it, and it's in the sorting office

  5. "whats the point of actually paying the extra money if you dont get the service?"

No point at all. It's a con. I complained about recorded delivery and they sent me six first-class stamps as recompense. Duh!
