  1. Postie Here - Yes I have although the training differs depending on your role.

If you are doing deliveries the training day is usually:

    Health and Safety

    Lifting and Carrying

Signing the official Secrets Act - yes you have to sign it.

    Tour of a delivery office

    Union Brief

    Form Filing

    Royal Mail Pension Brief

Then once you are working you will be sent on to a walk with a training postie known within Royal Mail as a Puppy Walker.  After 3 - 7 days - depending on how quick you pick the walk/work up you will be left to do it by yourself.  Again it depends on where you work but eventually you may be moved to become what is called a reserve position which means you cover walks/duties when there is an absence though this is usually about 6 to 8 weeks into the job, and you should be trained on the walk before you are sent on it.

My advice is join the Union as soon as you can because they can and will give you advice that the Managers cant or won't.

You will not be issued the full uniform straight away so make sure you have good quality boots or shoes, but make sure you wear them in first as you will walk on average 8 - 10 miles a day.
