So my family found an invitation to the coronation of the Queen for my great grandfather. In front of his name there was "Duar" or "Daur" ( i forget which she told me now).. does this mean anything to anyone.. perhaps something in latin. It would be really cool to know and nothing on search engine is popping up :( Thanks!

  1. Daur is a Mongolic language. The Daurs are mostly shamanists. Each clan has its own shaman in charge of all the important ceremonies in the lives of the Daur. However there are some Daurs who have taken up Lamaism.

The Daur people are an ethnic group officially recognized in the People's Republic of China. Most of them live in the Morin Dawa Daur Autonomous Banner in Inner Mongolia autonomous region of China.

  2. did you mean Dowager?

  3. This may be the initials of an honorum title. Look it up in Burke's Peerage (yes, a book, in a library). You won't find it anywhere else in the US.

  4. Daur

The Daur people (; the former name "Dahur" is considered derogatory) are an ethnic group. They form one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized in the People's Republic of China. They numbered 132,394 according to the latest census (2000), and most of them live in the Morin Dawa Daur Autonomous Banner in Inner Mongolia autonomous region of China.

or you really mean dowager!!!which means:

A title or status generally held by the widow of a deceased king. Its full meaning is clear from the two words from which it is composed: queen indicates someone who served as queen consort (i.e. wife of a king), while dowager indicates a widow who holds the title from her deceased husband.

i hope tis will help you!!!!
