The Real Madrid man, currently on-loan at Everton, has expressed his desire to rejoin his former Eredivisie club before the start of the 2012/13 season.
Real Madrid’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019, has expressed his desire to rejoin his former Eredivisie club, Feyenoord Rotterdam, this summer.
The 25-year-old left the Rotterdammers to join the Madrid giants in the summer of 2007. However, he has thus far failed to establish himself at Santiago Bernabeu.
He was loaned to Hercules in the 2010/11 season, and has been plying his trade at Goodison Park this term, where he has only managed to make 10 starting appearances.
In addition, his lack of playing time forced Bert van Marwijk, the Oranje head coach, to leave him out of the Netherlands’ squad for EURO 2012.
Drenthe has an expiring contract with Los Blancos that runs until the summer of 2012, and it seems highly unlikely that he would be offered a new contract by the club management.
With his future hung in the air, the 25-year-old has revealed that he wants to return to play in the highest echelons of Dutch football, with the Rotterdam giants to be his most likely destination.
“I want to do what I like and that's play football. In addition Rotterdam is my city. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 have not called me yet, but of course I would not mind if they did. Maybe I'll call them myself”, Drenthe was quoted as saying to the
media.
The left-winger, who can also play at the left-back position, has also faced tough problems when he was playing in La Liga during his time at the Madrid giants and Hercules.
The 25-year-old revealed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 always spoke with him in a very rude manner.
“I’ve played against Messi in the last few years and always had problems. You know what bothered me most? The way in which he spoke to me, always calling me ‘negro’ ‘negro’. When Hercules beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 I had a small altercation
with him Messi. Before the game we shook hands and he said ‘hello negro’ to me a few times. After the game he didn’t acknowledge me”, Drenthe concluded.
