Dave's ded ded sweet, like always giving me compliments & that.

But

every single day he always says

'i'm ugly' & i'll say no your not & he'll say 'yes i am'

And it'll go on for hours.

I've only known him for a few weeks, and it's been every single day now!!!

And, he when he compliments me, it's sweet, but they're always the cheesy ones, as if he's got them off a website or sumthin

'your smiles better than shootin stars'

'i seen a star n it reminded me of you'

he's uses these two phrases atleast 4 times a day.

it's sweet but, i dunno haha

and

when he says he's ugly

it pisses me off so much!!

the first few days it didn't, but hearin that day in day out does!!!

Should i say something?

  1. yer you should say something. Cause it would get on my nerves to.

  2. Just say Dave - please just be yourself.  Say what you want to say without it sounding like you have been trawling the internet for things to say.

I like your company but please stop with the silly phrases - I like you because youre you.

Next time he says he's ugly and you say no you arent finish it with and that is the last time I am going to say that to you.  Any time after that act like he hasnt said anything and simply refuse to respond.

Hopefully he will get bored of that game and find another annoying habit!!

  3. Hi Jonesy

From what you have said, it sounds like this guy may be shy and self-conscious around you. By saying sound bites such as ‘your smiles better than shootin stars’ that could have come off of the internet may show that he is unsure of how to compliment you and has been looking for tips on how this is done. This could mean that he likes you a lot and is unsure of the best way to express his interest! Perhaps after more time, he made find it easier to be around you and make less cheesy compliments.

You say he is always saying he is ugly and looking for reassurance from you. This could mean that he has low self-esteem and confidence. It sounds like he is being quite demanding of you at the moment which must be challenging for you especially as the you’ve only known him for a short time. His behaviour may not only affect how he feels about himself but also how he reacts to certain situations.

You can find information to help your situation on a website called TheSite.org. There is advice on self-esteem and building confidence which could benefit him. Check out: http://www.thesite.org/healthandwellbein...   On the website, you will also find tips on other issues that may be useful to you, such as ways to communicate.

Hopefully this helps you think about your his behaviour and how you can make him feel better about himself.  Hope everything works out well for you.

  4. I must say that you young people are so suggestable,I once hypnotised a chicken using a technique I learned from the esteemed work of Dr Charles Follen Mckim Maloney. I learnt the method from a paper published in 1976 by Maloney called "Methods of Vetirinarian Mesmerism". I convinced the chicken that it was a lecherous French Lingerie salesman called Jaques Oooh la la Dupont. I was unable to reverse the effects and "Jacques" now lives in my garden! He is pleasant enough but is terribly salacious and suggestive to female guests!

  5. It sounds like he fancies you!!! It also sounds like he's attention seeking a bit, what do other people think of him?

  6. He is very insecure about his looks and it may run deeper than that.  He probably has heard the cheesy lines before and has no confidence to trust his own lines he would like to say.  He needs you to tell him and show him you do fancy him and perhaps this may drain you after a while.  I am sure after a while he will accept you like him for who he is and tell him he does not need to try so hard.  Believe me if its real you will feel it and even though words are nice hear actions are better.
