  1. I work for the Cats Protection but I imagine we work in the same way to the RSPCA.

    Here's a quick list.

*Do you have any other pets? Are they fully vaccinated? ( This is VERY important if you have other cats).

*Do you have access to a garden? (My CP won't home a cat as an indoor only cat and like the cat to have garden/yard access.

*What are your working hours? (Full-time, part-time etc)

*Do you have a vet you know you will use?

*Have you owned a cat before? Are you financially able to care for this cat?

They will literally just make sure your house is big enough for the cat and that you can look after it! It's really not as formal as it sounds so don't worry!

  2. Make sure that you can provide a safe and clean home environment. That you have a secure home where the kitten cannot easily escape to the outdoors.

Home checks for cats is pretty simple. They just want to make sure that your home is relatively kitten-proof and will be a safe place for the kitten to live.

  3. They will probably check there is no nails sticking out of the floor that the kitten could step on and they will check that there is enough room for a kitten.

  4. 1) safe quiet roads

    2) enclosed garden

    3) safety (wires fire alerts etc)

    4) lots of room

    5) good neighbourhood ( no asbos)

  5. Your house says a lot about you. Is it reasonably clean and hygienic. If the cat is to go outdoors what are the roads like around you. Have you any other pets. Have you children and how many. Does it look like you have the financial means to look after the cat especially vet bills. They also try to get a "vibe " from the family to try and ascertain if everyone wants the cat and that you are animal lovers. It's by no means perfect but they try and ensure that the cat will be safe and its needs taken care of.

  6. just the usual safety things house is secure, easy garden access, etc etc
