Ruacana likely to shine in Royal Sussex Regiment Stakes (Handicap)
Ruacanna has got a very good chance of winning the Royal Sussex Regiment Stakes (Handicap) at Goodwood in England on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. He has never raced at this venue before, but that will not matter much to him, as he has the ability to adapt to different conditions pretty quickly.
There are some very talented runners lined up for action in the 2 mile event, thus the competition will be an interesting one. Most of them will be happy with the track conditions, which are good because of the dry weather at Goodwood.
The class-2 event is quite an important one, as the winner will run away with a cash prize of £10,350 in the end. Some of the participants have been in decent form, thus they will give a hard time to each other.
Looking at the overall statistics and current form of the contestants, the bookies have rated Gassin Golf as the favourite to succeed. The conditions are ideal for him to deliver a positive result and he will be full of confidence right now. He has managed to win a couple of events in his career, which will encourage the bettors to risk money on him.
On the other hand, Ruacana has also got a very good record in the sport and he cannot be taken lightly at all. He will enter the race with a starting price of 7 to 2 and his stamina is good enough to earn him a victory today.
The three-year-old gelding made his debut in February this year and was competitive right from the start of his career. He finished third in his first ever race, which shows that he has got good confidence.
Things kept on working well for the Michael Bell’s trainee afterwards, as he secured a couple of runner up positions following his impressive debut. He improved further to win his first ever race in April and then followed that up with another success next month.
In his next two outings, Ruacana was once again competitive and gave a tough time to his opponents. However, he failed to finish in the top three in his most recent run. He will look to bounce back now and his partner, Ryan Powell will be helping him to do so.
