Ruaridh Jackson hopes to earn first Scottish cap
Scotland’s Ruaridh Jackson hopes that he will get the chance to impress coach Andy Robinson and earn his first cap for his country during the autumn internationals.
Jackson had an injury hit season last year, but with Dan Parks moving to Cardiff the 22-year-old has become the first choice number-10 for Glasgow.
His impressive form for the club has seen the out-half earn a call up to the Scottish squad and he is expected to play in the Test against Samoa on 27 November in his home town of Aberdeen.
"It would be an incredible game for me to be part of, obviously I have grown up in Aberdeen," said Jackson.
The Glasgow out-half has admitted that he is excited about the prospect of earning his first cap at Pittodrie and said, “If I get picked, it would be an incredible moment to get a cap up in Aberdeen."
Jackson has been on the fringes of the Scottish squad. He has played for Scotland A and the player has concentrated on playing for his club side.
"The start of the season has been nice and I have been able to put all that to the back of my mind.”
This was a stark contrast to previous seasons when Jackson has been the understudy to Dan Parks. The player may have replaced Parks at Glasgow, but he has not managed to displace the experienced international in the Scottish Jersey.
Parks is expected to play in the matches against New Zealand and South Africa, while Jackson will be satisfied with a place on the bench.
“I seem to keep floating around the squad, but hopefully soon enough I can get that cap," he said. “With my stop-start season last year, I was just focussing on getting a good run of games with Glasgow."
