Rubbing brandy on joints to relieve pain?

i heard somewhere that rubbing brandy on joints help to keep it warm and alleviate pain...anybody heard of this? does it work?

It used to be done 100 years ago.  Today we have things like Ben g*y, Icy Hot, etc., a whole shelf full of things in the drugstore.  In fact even rubbing alcohol will work.  Back during the Civil War, all they had was brandy.

I would suggest drinking the stuff, not waste it externally.
