Rubby De La Rosa shines as Los Angeles Dodgers defeat Colorado Rockies 8-5 – MLB Update
Rubby De La Rosa put in a tremendous performance as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat Colorado Rockies 8-5 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 25.
After allowing a single to Dexter Fowler in the first inning, the 22-year-old pitcher crushed the Colorado Rockies’ batters to take his team to an 8-5 win in the first game of the three-game series. He held the Rockies to one score until the end of his game
in the sixth inning and punched out five batters to take his fourth win of the season.
While he created problems for the Rockies with his swinging pitches, his batters made stormy swings to post a valuable lead. Aaron Miles tied the game to 1-all in the bottom of the third inning. Andre Ethier hammered a home-run in the same inning.
Juan Rivera and Dioner Navarro both added singles to take the lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Rafael Furcal, Aaron Miles and Andre Ethier scored an RBI each in the bottom of the eighth inning to post an 8-1 advantage.
Until then, their joined hands to stop the Rockies’ bat, as Matt Guerrier and Kenley Jansen each tosses a scoreless single inning. Guerrier took out three batters and allowed one walk while Jansen struck-out two batters without permitting any run.
However, Hong-Chih Kuo received one and allowed two walks to permit three runs on less than an inning. He was about to bestow the game upon the Rockies when his manager Don Mattingly handed the ball to Mike MacDougal. However, he also struggled with his
pitches and allowed two walks and one run before Javy Guerra tossed three strikes of four-pitches to gain his eighth save of the season.
Third baseman Ian Stewart, Fowler, pinch hitter Jason Giambi and Todd Helton combined to score five runs in the top of the ninth inning to reduce a losing margin to 8-5.
Juan Nicasio allowed five runs, six hits including a homer, two walks and made five strike-outs in just over five innings. He lost his third game, which set his record to 4-3 with 4.24 ERA. Matt Reynolds tossed a no-score inning, Matt Lindstrom tossed two
pitches for no-score and Esmil Rogers yielded three runs on four hits and walked two batters over a single inning.
With this win, the Dodgers marked their third straight win and having Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the next game can confirm their fourth straight win. Kershaw has eleven wins and just four losses this season.
