Rubens Barrichello admits he might not get to race with new V6 engines in his career – Formula 1
Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello has recently admitted that he might not be a part of Formula 1 until the introduction of the new V6 engines.
The V6 engines will be introduced in 2014 and it seems that Barrichello might not experience the power and feel of these new engines as he plans to retire before that.
“It is a very big internal war, it was going to be four cylinder and now it's V6. We're not exactly sure what will happen. That's for three years from now. At that time, I will not be in Formula One but at Disneyland, eating hamburgers and riding the roller
coaster,” he said.
The Brazilian driver is 39 years old and it was believed at first that he might retire after this year since he is not satisfied with his team’s performance at all. However, he announced recently that he still wants to stay and race with the team at least
for another year.
Barrichello has the most race starts in the history of the sport as he has competed in 320 races up until now. He joined the sport back in 1993 and since then, he admitted that the sport has definitely changed a lot.
Other than that, he added that he is not sure whether Williams will keep him for another year but he is hoping to stay with them at least for 2012.
“In Formula One there are always surprises, you can never guarantee that something is fixed. From what we can see, only the top seats are pretty much decided. For the teams in the middle of the field it depends on other factors and anything can happen until
the end of the year,” said the Brazilian driver.
Williams went through their worst start to a Formula 1 season this year and by the looks of it, they are trying their best to improve as they recently announced some major management changes in order to overcome their problems using the best minds in the
sport.
