The 38-year-old Brazilian driver Rubens Barrichello recently won the Gregor Grant trophy for his achievements in Formula 1 as he became the first driver to drive for 18 seasons in a row. Rubens hopes to driver for an incredible 19th season in
the sport next year and he claims that he is physically in his best shape now.
While talking to the comparers at the Autosport Awards, he stated that he is going to be back once again in 2011 with Williams and hopefully give another memorable performance.
“I think I have become better all the time, and I wish I was like this when driving for Ferrari. This year has been my best physical year in terms of feeling my body and driving the car to the limits. I've enjoyed it fully,” said Barrichello.
It is going to be an amazing 2011 season with KERS back once again and 20 races in just a single season for the first time ever in the history of Formula 1.
“Next year there is KERS and people at my team are asking me to lose weight - and I am fully ready for it - I am fully ready.” he added.
On the other hand, Nico Hulkenberg also praised Rubens’ consistency and pace in 2010 and stated that he still might have a lot left in him for 2011.
“I realised quickly through my team mate Rubens Barrichello how important it is to have experience in this sport. Rubens was the strongest team-mate I ever had and I am very pleased with the year at his side.” said his former team-mate.
Nico added that they exchanged their helmets in Abu Dhabi before the grand finale and wrote something special on each other’s helmet. Hulkenberg hopes that Rubens stays in the sport for a long time and wished him all the best at the awards ceremony.
