Rubens Barrichello claims he did not criticise Williams – Formula 1 news
Williams driver Rubens Barrichello has recently stated that he did not ‘speak ill’ of his team.
Barrichello was trying to clarify his stance regarding some of his comments which surfaced recently in which he apparently spoke against his team.
“I have never spoken ill of the team. This has stemmed from the opinion of a German journalist who was mistranslated by the Italian press and then it's credited to me. My interest is just the opposite, to continue the work we have been doing,” said Barrichello.
According to some reports, it was revealed that Barrichello was unsure about his future and he stated that he does not know whether he will continue with the team under such conditions.
Williams are going through an extremely rough patch as they just had their worst start to a Formula 1 season ever and even now, they are struggling to score any points at all.
The team has secured just 4 points in order to secure the 9th place in the constructors’ standings which is quite disappointing for them as they are the least ‘points scoring’ team of the season up until now.
As a result of these developments, it was revealed that Nico Hulkenberg or Adrian Sutil from Force India might replace Rubens Barrichello the following year but the 39-year-old claims that his presence for the team will be quite beneficial for them.
“I believe that my presence on the team in 2012 will be beneficial to everyone. The team is in a phase of restructuring and my experience can help in this process a lot,” said the Brazilian driver.
The team is currently going through a major administrative and management change for the upcoming season as a result of which it is believed that they will once again improve and probably become as strong as it used to be.
They are going to use Renault engines once again starting from 2012 but still they need to work a lot and have a lot of chores up their sleeves as they plan to boost the team’s performance quite noticeably.
