Rubens Barrichello doubtful about his future with Williams – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello has recently stated that he is not sure about his future with the team as he is quite frustrated with how the team is performing in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Since Williams have not been able to come up with a good car, the team’s future is quite unreliable.
“It's an incredible situation. I don't know if I will continue next year in these conditions. In recent months we have brought too many aerodynamic parts, we could not test them completely and honestly you can't use a race for testing. We are confused, the
team is shrouded in uncertainty,” Barrichello told the media.
Barrichello is currently in 17th place with just 4 points in the drivers’ standings making him the least competitive points scoring driver of 2011 statistically.
His teammate Pastor Maldonado on the other hand has not been able to secure a single point up until now which clearly means that the Brazilian driver is doing a much better job and is squeezing the best out of the 2011 Williams car.
Barrichello has performed with teams like Ferrari and BrawnGP in their peak time and he played a major role in securing the championships for them. This is not the sort of end he might be hoping for his career as a result of which, he has not confirmed anything
about his future.
Since the team is yet to confirm Barrichello’s stay with them for another year as well, Nico Hulkenberg and Adrian Sutil from Force India are being linked with Williams.
However, Hulkenberg’s chances of joining the team after what they did to him in 2010 are quite low. The young German drove for an average Williams in 2010 and gave them some pretty good results in his debut year in the sport keeping in mind that he even
secured a pole position for them.
Since Williams are going through a major administrative change as well, the team is hoping for the best for its future and some positive long term improvements in order to become more reliable and consistent.
