Rubens Barrichello looking for long term Williams deal after seeing improvements – Formula 1
Williams’ Formula 1 driver Rubens Barrichello has stated that he will stay at the team beyond the 2011 Formula 1 season after the team has shown some development.
The Brazilian driver stated that he entered the Williams team keeping in mind that the team will do some wonders in future.
Although the start of the 2011 season was not as expected, Barrichello stated that there is some room for improvement in the team and he will be in the team to see that improvement.
At the start of the season, Barrichello was the one who stated that he will leave the team after seeing some poor performances.
Williams were point-less in the opening five races of the season. Their first point scoring finish came from Barrichello when the veteran landed among points in the Monaco Grand Prix.
Now, as the team is facing an uphill battle in the midfield, Barrichello stated that he will stay with the team for some more years.
“Next year it's got to be a big improvement, it's got to be a big thing, and I want to be part of it as I have been for the last two years and that's why I want to be present to make sure that we are actually making the step up,” stated Barrichello.
The Brazilian added, “I've entered Williams because I believed in the project and I believed that with the kind of structure that they have, the great facilities and so on. So there's no 'no's' in there; there's lots of 'yes' and there's lots of room for
improvement.”
Talking about the 2011 season, Barrichello stated that the car is clearly not as competitive as it was in the 2010 season, but improvements from the team were expected in the upcoming seasons.
Williams’ are currently ninth on the 2011 table with 4 points. Eleven races are still to be contested in the 2011 season and the Grove-based team will have plenty of time to fight for a better position in the midfield.
