Rubens Barrichello satisfied with the Williams FW33 - Formula 1
Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello has recently stated that he is satisfied with his new Williams car, FW33, ahead of the 2011 Formula 1 season as he believes that the new Williams car is much better than the team’s 2010 package.
It is believed that the FW33 has the smallest gearbox on the Formula 1 grid this year which gives the car an impressive rear end in order to produce some pretty good times during the pre-season test sessions.
Rubens believes that it is an improvement over the team’s last year car and is hoping for much better results as compared to the teams 2010 run.
“I think we are better on performance than last year. The car is a different animal though so there is a different way of treating it, but I quite like it. How much faster it is, is very difficult to know, but the car feels better than last year's to drive,”
he said.
He is not aware of where Team Williams “stands” at the moment as compared to the rest of the teams but he is pretty sure that this new car will enable him to score some pretty good points consistently and the team might even make it to Q3 (final session
during the qualifying session) at most of the venues this year.
“This is my second year with the team and we are in much better shape than we were this time last year. Everything has been prepared well and the team is doing a really good job getting everything ready in time for Melbourne,” said Rubens.
Last year, Rubens finished in 10th place in the drivers’ standings behind Michael Schumacher but he believes that this time, things are going to be much better for his team in terms of statistics.
It was recently revealed that the team is going to run KERS - a device that converts heat energy into kinetic energy before storing it for later use as a power boost - at the season opening race of the 2011 Formula 1 season that is expected to take place
in Australia on the 27th of March.
Barrichello is hopeful that the team is going to give its best this year and perform consistently throughout the season.
