Rubens Barrichello supports Michael Schumacher and admires Kimi Raikkonen – Formula 1 news
Former Formula 1 driver, Rubens Barrichello has supported Michael Schumacher over his return in the sport after three years with Mercedes and has admired the performance of Kimi Raikkonen who has made a terrific comeback with Lotus this year.
Schumacher took retirement in 2006 and came back in F1 couple of years ago with the Brackley based team. He was completely outclassed by his teammate, Nico Rosberg during the preceding two seasons. Nevertheless, he has performed comparatively well in the
current season so far.
Even though, he could not covert his higher grid positions into competitive results in many races, however, he has secured an impressive third podium finish in the European GP which he secured after setting off from 12th grid position.
Moreover, Barrichello who had been the teammate of the seven-time world champion has said that it is very hard to get back on track after such a long time.
“I like the way he has decided to approach the matter and I knew that it would be difficult after a three year break to immediately regain a foothold,” said the Brazilian.
In addition, the Brazilian driver praised the performance of Raikkonen who has performed tremendously well in the season until now behind the wheel of one of the most competent cars E20 and has secured five podium finishes.
“It has really surprised me then how many fewer problems Kimi has had with it,” speaking about Schumacher, prompted Barrichello to give his thoughts on F1's other returnee World Champ, Kimi Raikkonen.
It will be important to mention that the Finnish driver has not been able to perform at his best in the qualifying as Lotus need to improve their qualifying pace.
Nevertheless, the team principal of the Enstone based team, Eric Boullier has recently said that they are targeting to enhance their tyre management so as to improve their qualifying pace in the remaining nine races after the August break.
Over and above, the 2007 world champion has been deemed as a great threat to all the top drivers in the current season and has surely got a strong chance to claim the championship title.
