The Williams’ driver Rubens Barrichello still has no idea of who will be his teammate for the 2011 Formula One season.
Barrichello has been pretty consistent all through the 2010 season. Now, as the other drivers and teams are still going through a lot of confusion and tension for next season’s teams’ structures, he rests assured of his place with
the team. The veteran was earlier reported for convincing his team to retain the old team driver, Nico Hulkenberg for the upcoming season as well but the talks did not conclude positively. Despite being able to win the first pole position for the team earlier
this year, the German has not been able to secure his place in the team.
There are reports that the new GP2 Champion, Pastor Maldonado will be occupying the second place in the team but so far there is no official confirmation from the team or the driver. Maldonado is being preferred upon the old team
driver due to his commercial value as it is widely believed that the driver will bring considerable sponsorship from Venezuela.
On the other hand, Hulkenberg is still not sure what he is going to do next season. Although his debut season at Formula One has not gone very poor yet, none of the teams have so far confirmed his place.
While talking to the media earlier today, Barrichello said that so far he is not sure who will be taking the next seat of the team. Moreover, he added that he was happy to stay with Williams. He continued saying that he did not
even know if the team was going to keep him or not for another season, until the Williams’ management made the announcement about his stay in 2011.
When asked about the 2010 Championship, he commented on Red Bull’s victory saying that the Austrian squad deserved to win both the titles. He further expressed that the team has set a great example for the other teams, by avoiding
team orders. The Brazilian driver explained saying, “There’s always a lot that the people outside (the team) don't know, but I think it was cool anyway. It is the opposite of what Ferrari did in Germany."
Barrichello has also been a sufferer of team orders during his times in Ferrari. In the 2002 Championship he was ordered by the team to hand over his victory at the Austrian Grand Prix to his teammate Michael Schumacher.
However, the driver is now looking forward to a great racing season ahead as he waits to know who his next teammate for the 2011 season will be.
