Rubic Millennium Game?

Am I remembering this right? Did Rubic bring out a puzzle at the end of the last millennium? If anyone, anywhere in the world solved it then they won £1,000,000. Did anyone win it? Or did I just dream the whole thing?

I don't remember anything about that.  At the time some connection was made between being able to solve the Rubik's cube and finding solutions to the feared "millennium bug".  A whiz kid who solved the cube at 12 years old offered a suggestion for a solution to Y2K.  That's the only connection I know of.
