Rubin Kazan set for Barcelona sell-out
Russian Premier League outfit Rubin Kazan's upcoming match with La Liga giants, Barcelona, is likely to be sold-out when the sides’ UEFA Champions League group stage clash at the end of the month.
The teams were drawn together at the same stage of the competition last year, and Kazan stunned Barca in both of their games, picking up all six points on offer.
Barcelona will return to Russia with the aim of atoning for those defeats, but look as though they will have to contend with around 30,000 passionate Kazan fans as the game at the Tsentralnyi Stadion edges towards being a sell-out, with few Barca fans expected
to make the trip.
In total, just under 20,000 tickets have been sold for the encounter, but with the capacity of the stadium being just over 30,000 and tickets going fast, it appears that it won’t be long before the stadium reaches capacity.
'Sales trend is good'
Kazan director Pavel Nikulin told Russian newspaper Sport-Express that, "We have 5000 seats left to sell in the arena and the sales trend is good. Every day we are filling the ground by at least a thousand more. All the cheap tickets are gone in
the East Stand. We have a quota of 1060 seats that we have to hand to UEFA as regulations state, but if the European football union (does) not want all of this quota, we will have a reserve which will go on sale."
Meanwhile, Kazan still has a chance of retaining their league title with nine matches still to play. They are currently four points behind the league leaders, Zenit St. Petersburg, but have played two more games. Kazan will play host to Zenit in the second
last game of the season in what may well be a league decider.
