Ruby Tuesday tried to charge me 10% gratuity on take out! Why?

I have paid this in some places in Florida  and Atlantic City where it appears to be standard..but I do think its rude

I'd call them and complain! Did they bring it out to your car? Do they have curbside like Applebees? Then they might be able to charge you something. But if you went in and paid, that's uncalled for! Talk to management about that!

Some restaurants automatically charge gratuity for take out.

i am sure the to go person deserves it, but they should definately tell you at the time of your order.

I work at Ruby Tuesday and we dont charge unless you fill out the tip proportion of the check! But yes take out employes rely on tips in take out we are not just taking food to cars but reasuring the food is correctly cooked and is perfect to take out to the customer!
