Ruby Walsh is back with a bang onboard Bundle Of Fun
Every star horse, jockey or trainer when gets injured and is advised to stay off tracks, they are miserably missed and warmly welcomed once they do come back. Ruby Walsh is a jockey of his own kind in racing and has been missing since July from the tracks.
Ruby Walsh ended up crushing a vertebra in his neck along with tearing apart a ligament when he was onboard Friendly Society, falling down when he failed to balance himself at the very initial handicap hurdle at Killarney on 12th July.
However, the injury did not disturb Walsh deeply as he said, "Being injured is part and parcel of being a jumps jockey”.
Luckily he was discharged from being off tracks earlier than was actually expected which allowed him to practice on what he had missed earlier. He told:
"After being passed fit by the doctor, I've been riding out for the past ten days or so and have been down riding out for Willie [Mullins] a few times”.
His performance on Sunday, the one right after getting fit, at the Listowel Festival’s opening day was not very impressive but the passion did not take too long to spark and he did leave his mark with a victory on Thursday at Listowel with the winning horse
Bundle Of Fun.
Bundle of Fun was very soon tracking leaders once was on the field, did encounter some real competition but did not let go off his pace and did win with T J Doyle riding in behind him on Blackwell Synergy, followed by Capal Dubh Alainn with P A Gallagher
onboard.
Before this, in August, Bundle Of Fun won the Ballinrobe with jockey P Townend. Second in place for this race was Russian Regent.
Bundle Of Fun was in quite convincing form when the horse and jockey went for their Listowel race.
Bundle Of fun gave Ruby Walsh his first success ever since he came back from his injury break. He very gladly said, "A winner always helps”.
A beaming Walsh admitted afterwards. "It will be even better when the better races start to come along now”.
He obviously seems to want to achieve more than the victory with Bundle Of Fun and he is also anticipating that chance would present itself pretty soon.
