Question:

Rude Governor Office Workers In Ohio?

So, here's the lowdown. Today, I called the Governor's office at Columbus in order to ask someone to send a birthday card to my father for his birthday next month. I kept getting passed from one person to another as if this were a matter of GREAT importance at the State House. But, NO. First, I get laughed at and eventually, these geniuses (that I pay their salaries with my taxes) hung up on me. I just got furious. Since my Daddy knows the Guv somewhat as our Governor comes from nearby and my father is a Baptist minister down here in the sticks (where we have manners among other things...) and knows Governor Stricklands' cousin, Rev. Berlin Strickland quite well, I was so mad I called up at Berlin's house and talked to his wonderful wife, Rose, about the rude going-ons in Columbus. She said that she gave up a long time ago even trying to talk to those yayhoos at Columbus on account of their notorious nasty ways. She also told me where the Gov would be this weekend.

  1. You had my sympathy until you started your rant about people north of Columbus.  Perhaps you were rude first.

  2. Okay, I guess I don't understand what the problem is.  Why were you calling the Governor's office to send a birthday card to your father?  Are you wanting TED to send your father a birthday card?

And secondly, if you're such good friends of the family, why didn't you just call them in the first place and ask them to have him call you personally.  I'm sure he would have done it.  After all, he really is one of the good guys.

And lastly, I can't help but interject here...I'm from Minford and can attest that not NEARLY as many people here are being reared with manners and courtesy anymore, unfortunately.  Not saying that the people in Columbus are wonderful people or that they aren't rude, but it's everywhere; no town is immune!  Someone from my church was having legal issues because the house she and her husband bought had mold in it that the people who were selling the house cleaned up while showing the house but didn't disclose the problem.  Once the judge in the case found out the couple go to my church (Rubyville Community), no lie, he turned against them just because he doesn't like the pastor.  The couple didn't do ANYTHING tp anger or provoke the judge; they were literally guilty by association.  Now, the couple are fighting to keep the house they moved out of that hasn't sold yet so that they have a place to live and aren't homeless.  All right here in good ol' Scioto County.

Anyway, good luck with getting your problem fixed!  Hope you can track Ted down!

  3. Is there a question hiding in your rant somewhere?  If you're so close to "the gov", why didn't you just call him personally?  Sounds like you got a big case of bad attitude.  Get over yourself hilljill.

  4. Why would the Govenor; who appearently really is not bossom buddies with your Daddie, want to send him a birthday card.

If the Govenor wanted to send a personal friend a birthday card, he would ask his staff to do it - the staff would not recommend he do it.

Also, you may highly embarrase your Daddie by ringing up and trying to force a birthday card out of the Govenor.

To be honest, I would not be surprised if the Govenor's wife, while she was very nice, thought you were a nut job or very, very young - your post comes across as nonesense.  I read it and answered it because clearly whatever you are tryihg to say is important to you and someone should value that.

  5. Are you serious or smokin some bad stuff

  6. That's the way ALL state and federal employees are.  Have you ever been to the DMV?  You can't complain to a manager about "customer service" so there's no fear about getting "written up" and risk losing their job.  Accept it or just be rude back (I'm not saying that's right, but it sure makes me feel better).
