What are some things people say that are really rude or not intended to be nice such as "have a nice day" after a heated argument, but the majority of the population still thinks they are "just being polite"

basically they're being rude as h**l but there is little way to prove it , but you know it and they know it. Like after a hearted argument with a telephone banker, they might say "have a nice" and then hang up in the person's face?

Other words or things or behavior that are rude heck but can be considered "being polite" ?

  1. Have a nice day is a Very polite way to disengage from an abusive conversation when the other party refuses to accept what is being said....

There are many people who FEED on arguments. They don't stop until the feel as if they destroyed the other person...

In those instances it would be acceptable to just hang up on their faces.

  2. social standards are not necessarily politeness

they are just things people say sometimes
