Despite the defeat against Bayern Munich last night, the 48-year-old feels that Les Dogues can still qualify for the knockout rounds by winning all of their remaining games
The 2010/2011 champions of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 once again failed to perform well in Europe on Tuesday and were punished by the German giants at Grand Stade Lille Metropole.
The French team performed relatively well against a much experienced team but it wasn’t enough. After going a goal down, LOSC tried their best to get back in the game but failed to find an equaliser.
Coach, Rudi Garcia, is pleased with his players’ attitude and commitment they showed against the Bundesliga outfit. While talking to reporters after the match, the Frenchman stated that he isn’t blaming anyone for the defeat and his players gave their all
but luck wasn’t with them.
"The players are not to blame − they gave it their all.”
The coach added that Lille played with intensity but failed to create enough chances in the game, and were punished for that. Garcia feels that his side played much better in the second half and were unlucky to lose out in the end.
“We played with intensity but unfortunately we didn't have many chances, albeit we had more in the second than in the first half.”
The former Saint-Etienne coach said that Les Dogues didn’t test the opposing team as they should have, and that made life easy for Bayern Munich at Grand Stade Lille Metropole.
“We should have had more on target in order to trouble their defence and very good goalkeeper. We know they are a great team, but we could have been more threatening towards them.”
Despite the defeat, Rudi Garcia believes that not everything is dark and doom and Lille can still progress through the knockout stages of the competition by winning all of their remaining group games.
“We have to win in Munich, but the European Cup is the stuff of achievements. While it is mathematically possible we will try to finish in the top two."
Lille will next travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 to take on Bayern Munich in the reverse fixture on November 7.
