The Lille coach has praised his players after they overcame FC Copenhagen to seal their place in the group stages of the Champions League
The Ligue 1 outfit needed extra time to beat the Danish side at Grand Stade Lille Métropole in the reverse fixture, after losing the opening leg 1-0.
Tulio de Melo’s goal in extra time, secured Les Dogues’ qualification into the group stages of the European club competition. And club coach, Rudi Garcia, is more than delighted with his side’s commitment and mentality that they showed in the game.
While talking to reporters, the coach praised his players and stated that Lille now have a good chance to perform above expectations, in the Champions League.
The Frenchman said that LOSC have shown the nerves of a quality team and they deserved to win the match, as they were by far the better side of the two.

The former Saint-Etienne coach added that he was expecting such an intense game and his players performed well, despite being under immense pressure.
Praising the fans, the 48-year-old stated that the club is blessed to have such wonderful fans, and their support is a great source of motivation for the players.
"This is the game I was expecting. They were not overwhelmed by the challenge or pressure. We had wonderful fans, which helped us.”
Rudi Garcia is of the view that the win against FC Copenhagen has lifted his side’s confidence and it will also help Lille in the domestic competitions.
While talking about Les Dogues’ chances in Europe this season, the coach stated that they have learned from their Champions League campaign last season, and his side will put in a solid display this time around.
"This has given a new impetus to the team. We have proven ourselves very mature in our handling of the game. This proves that we have learned from our Champions League campaign last season.”
