The LOSC Lille coach feels that Les Dogues were unlucky to lose at home to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-CF-c40864 in the Champions League on Wednesday and the Ligue 1 outfit deserved something out of the game
The 48-year-old is of the view that the 2010/2011 champions of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 did pretty well at Grand Stade Lille Metropole against the Spanish club but were unlucky to end up on the losing side.
While talking to reporters, the Frenchman stated that his side deserved something from Wednesday’s game but it wasn’t their day. Lille were less than average in the first half but the coach feels that his side was very strong defensively and they didn’t
give many chances to the opposing side, which is a big plus.
Losing 1-0 at home is very frustrating and it has ruined Garcia’s plans of ending their ill fated Champions League campaign on a high note.
“We were very average in the first half, even if we didn't concede chances all game long. That makes it all the more frustrating to have lost the games.”
Praising his players, the former Saint-Etienne coach said that it was an amazing performance from LOSC in front of the home crowd and the result is unfair in many ways.
“I don't think my players deserved that.”
Rudi Garcia added that Lille came back strongly after the interval and they put http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 under immense pressure but were denied by the opposing goalkeeper, who made some world class saves out there.
Lille hit the bar more than once and the boss feels that it just wasn’t their day and there is nothing that can be done now.
“We put more pressure on Valencia after the break and we're out of luck just now as their keeper made the saves he had to make, and when he wasn't there it was the bar that saved them.”
Garcia said that Lille are lacking in confidence at the moment and the need is to rediscover the form that made them champions in 2010/2011 season to things back on track.
“We need to rediscover the confidence we lack sometimes in order to get back on the goal trail.”
