The 48-year-old believes that Lille’s luck is finally changing following a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Les Girondins and feels that getting a draw in Bordeaux was a good result
LOSC managed to nick a draw at Stade Chaban Delmas on Friday, thanks to a last-gasp goal from Marko Basa, who broke his nose while scoring the equaliser.
Lille coach, Rudi Garcia, feels that his side was unlucky on several occasions last night and had they been lucky, the result would have been different.
Dismissing the reports claiming that Les Dogues played for a draw on Friday, the 48-year-old stated that it wasn’t their plan at all and they wanted to win the match. However, Bordeaux played really well and made life difficult for LOSC on the pitch.
The coach added that after conceding a goal, he told his players to keep pushing the opposition and he was sure that Lille will manage to find the back of the net somehow.
"We didn't plan for the match to end this way [a draw], but we had said to the lads that Bordeaux are susceptible to conceding goals in injury time.”
Praising the opposing team, Garcia said that Les Girondins are a quality side and they have performed brilliantly in recent times. However, the coach feels that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot’s side dropped back to protect their lead on Friday, which gave Lille an opportunity
to play aggressively.
“Bordeaux are a very capable side, but they dropped back in order to protect their lead and of course that meant that we would have chances.”
The former Saint-Etienne coach added that at this stage, Lille are in dire need of points and the draw against Bordeaux on Friday has helped players regain their confidence ahead of a busy and hectic schedule.
“In terms of the table, it's a point won for us: getting a draw in Bordeaux is about as well as we've done in the last few seasons.”
Rudi Garcia feels that Lille’s luck is finally changing after a number of bad results and hopes to see more positive results in the upcoming games.
“The wheel is turning and our luck is coming back," concluded the astute tactician.
