Lille’s coach is wary of the star studded strength of Paris Saint-Germain and expects a backlash from the title contenders, who have drawn all their league matches since the start of the campaign
Lille and Paris Saint-Germain both hold the distinguishment of staying unbeaten in the current season till yet and are set to face each other in a potentially explosive encounter. The match however, will give a potential edge to the Paris side, according
to Lille manager, Rudi Garcia.
Lille have been besieged by a hectic playing schedule in recent times, with the three-time Ligue 1 winners in action on Wednesday too. The exhaustive schedule for Lille has rung alarm bells for Garcia, who has felt pretty concerned about the work burden
on his men in recent days.
Rudi Garcia saw his men busy in Champions League qualifiers against FC Copenhagen. Les Dogues pulled off an outstanding comeback to notch a comprehensive victory against a side they were chasing after the first-leg defeat.
However, the busy period spent by Lille is a point of contention for the manager as he sees less time to prepare for the much anticipated clash against PSG. The 48-year-old believes the full week off for PSG will pay dividends for Ancelotti’s eleven on Sunday,
when the two sides take on each other at Grand Stade Lille Metropole.
The perturbed manager could only rely on the club’s newly built stadium to come to their boost as he said, “We have a game on Sunday against Paris, obviously they are favourites to win the league. We will rely on our 30,000 fans to support us. Obviously
we will play to win like we always do.”
“But as an outsider we will try to make a difference, to be able to win against PSG. They have an advantage against us – they did not play these both games of Champions League like we did”. The disgruntled manager and a former player, Garcia, concluded his
side of the story as he said, “We have less energy and are more tired”.
Elsewhere, Rudi Garcia also praised the mavericks of the new boy Salomon Kalou, whom he tipped to make great impact at Lille as time passes.
