The LOSC Lille coach feels that Les Dogues deserved something out of Sunday’s game and to return empty-handed after playing so well is cruel
The 2010/2011 champions of France came second best against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Ayew-c19098, depriving Lille a chance to get something out of the game.
While talking to reporters, coach, Rudi Garcia stated that it’s a cruel defeat if we look at the chances Lille created on the pitch. The coach said his side played really well on Sunday and it was a much improved performance from the club from Northern http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
"It is a cruel defeat because we played very well, much better than in our last away game (last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Lorient).”
The 48-year-old tactician said that LOSC were wasteful in front of goal and they wasted a number of goalscoring opportunities, for which they were punished in the end. Coming empty-handed after playing so well is cruel, and the coach feels that they were
unlucky not to find the back of the net at Stade Velodrome.
“The problem is that we had enough chances to score but we came away empty-handed from this trip.”
Praising Marseille’s goalkeeper, Garcia said that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steve-Mandanda-c34177 made couple of brilliant saves to keep his side out of the game but has admitted that Lille should have been more clinical in their finishing.
“We came up against a goalkeeper who is part of the France squad, but we still could have scored if we had shown a bit more quality.”
Talking about Florent Balmont’s sending off on Sunday, the former Saint-Etienne coach said that it was a tough call and it changed the scenario of the game. However, Garcia is pleased with the way his players performed despite playing with a man less against
Marseille, and has urged the players to continue playing with same spirit and determination in the upcoming matches.
“The sending-off was crucial in determining the outcome of the game. I am happy with how the players performed but we have now lost Balmont for Wednesday.”
