Debuchy was desperate to secure a move to the Sports Direct Arena but in the end, a move never materialised. While talking to media, Rudi Garcia more or less blamed the English club for their handling of the situation.
“I think he would have left if Newcastle had done the right thing. This is a non-episode. He will soon tell you if he wishes to but he is a good guy.”

“He (Martin) is better in the centre. He must take more responsibility, I told him and he will do it. He has just arrived. He wants to blend into the community, he is almost too altruistic.”
