Rudy g*y, Josh Smith: Bettor.com’s 2011-2012 All NBA 3rd Team (Part 2) – NBA Feature
Small Forward: Rudy g*y
Rudy g*y is one of the most promising stars of the new age. He is in his 6th NBA season, and gradually maturing into a high calibre forward. g*y has been a critical factor behind the Grizzlies strong performance over
the past two seasons. Averaging 19 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season, g*y has been on a roll, putting in consistent performances to help his team progress.
Memphis finished ranked 4th in the toughly contested Western Conference this season, and were eliminated by the Los Angeles Clippers in a thoroughly contested 7 game first round playoff series. The small forward position
was the most difficult to decide in this team, with the players such as g*y, Paul Pierce and Danny Granger. But not only does g*y have the better statistics, he has also been more instrumental in helping his team achieve success.
Rudy g*y is a star to watch out for in his future years. He is only in his 6th NBA season and has a whole lot of basketball years ahead of him.
Power Forward: Josh Smith
This might be a surprising selection for the Power Forward considering there are people like Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett and Blake Griffin over whom I have chosen Smith. But I have only one sentence for people who disagree with
my choice. Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t. And Smith’s numbers need to be shared to get an idea of how well he has played this season.
Smith is averaging 18.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. He does almost everything on the court. No other competitor for the Power Forward position can boast the numbers he is averaging. And Smith has
also been instrumental in Atlanta’s recent success. He is their go-to guy who has been carrying the team on his shoulders for a long team.
This season, he received help from Joe Johnson and Jeff Teague also played good basketball to help Atlanta finish at 5th place in the Eastern conference with a better record than 4th place Boston Celtics.
They lost to the Celtics in the first round but we all know how dangerous the Celtics are in playoff basketball. Smith is playing inspired basketball. Currently in his 8th NBA season, he has been laying low all these years waiting for his time.
He has played all 8 seasons in Atlanta in a team not in title contention.
If he were in a big club, he would already have everyone’s attention by now. The Hawks and Smith now seem to be the team to watch for after their performance over the previous two years. And Smith is their leader, one who is destined
to fly even higher in the coming years.
Honourable Mentions:
With the third team complete, there are a few names that need to be mentioned who almost made the team. You can call them reserves or near finishers. These are Marc Gasol, Paul Pierce, Danny Granger and Dirk Nowitzki.
