Rudy g*y stars as Grizzlies outshine the Pacers to end a 3-match losing streak
Rudy g*y pulled off one of the most breathtaking performance he has showcased all season, as the Memphis Grizzlies stalled their three match losing streak with a bang, routing the Indiana Pacers 104-90.
The Grizzlies have been one of the most explosive teams in the league this season but the cause of their downfall has often been their jittery defence. On Sunday night though, they converted their weakness into their strength as the men from Memphis thrashed
the Pacers at both ends of the court.
In a dominant display of post-strength, the Grizzlies reduced the Pacers to their third lowest shooting of the season. The Pacers shot 32-for-90 from the field and managed only 6-of-18 from beyond the arc.
First Half
Indiana were coming into the match after an unusual six-game layoff and they looked like a team in need of some priming as they committed three turnovers in the first three minutes of the game. The Pacers, however, managed to find their shots as they kept
pace with the Grizzlies midway through the first quarter.
The shooting prowess of the Pacers however froze in the face of a ferocious onslaught by the Grizzlies, who reeled off a 15-2 spurt to wrest an early hold of the match. Rudy g*y was phenomenal right from the tip-off. The 6 ft 8 forward grabbed 10 points
in the first quarter to spearhead the Grizzlies.
Second Half
The jolted Pacers, staring at a 32-20 deficit by the end of the first 12 minutes, sprung pack into action immediately. They opened the second period with a fast 14-0 break, capped by a furious slam-jam from Solomon Jones, to shot into a 34-32 lead with 8:47
to go until the break.
The match went into a deadlock thereafter as both the teams missed one shot after the other. The teams gradually inched their way to a 46-46 score entering the last two minutes of the half, before Rudy g*y nailed a triple pointer, following a Marc Gasol
dunk shot, to boost the Grizzlies to a 51-46 lead at half time, one they never relinquished.
Third Quarter
Memphis led throughout the third quarter. After an early Indiana resistance which saw them pull within two, the Grizzlies propelled to 13-2 run to knock the steam out of the Pacers ranks.
Fourth Quarter
Indiana though were not done yet as they fought their way to 88-80 on Danny Granger's driving layup with 6:43 left on the clock. The semblance of a fight back however was soon put to rest as g*y ripped in a 17-footer from the tip of the circle on the next
possession, and Memphis preserved the double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Top Scorers
Rudy g*y finished with a combined tally of 30 points on an 11 of 20 shooting, with eight rebounds, five assists and five steals. He wasn’t alone as Marc Gasol and O.J. Mayo sizzled with 17 apiece. Zach Randolph also put in a huge performance claiming 18
points wrapped with 16 rebounds.
Danny Granger led the Pacers with 29 points and five rebounds while Roy Hibbert finished with 14 points and Mike Dunleavy added 10 for Indiana. The Pacers, however, were denied of their fourth consecutive win as they shot just at 35.6 percent.
