Ruethaichanok Laisuan, Narissapat Lam clutch Women’s Doubles trophy in 2013 Victorian International
Women’s Doubles trophy of Li Ning Victorian International belonged to Ruethaichanok Laisuan and Narissapat Lam as they remained invincible in the title match on June 30, 2013.
Both Thai campaigners forged a fruitful chemistry against the twosome of Sannatasah Saniru and Renuga Veeran and wrapped this showdown with a favourable result of 21-15 and 21-14. This 31-minute tussle took place in Albert Park Australia where a decent number of badminton lovers gathered to encourage both teams.
Initially, it was felt that both pairs will give tough time to each other but then Ruethaichanok- Narissapat sealed splendid straight-set victory without any major trouble. They laid the foundation of their triumph immediately in the opening game and served notice of their dominance in second set of the match.
Meanwhile, Sannatasah and Renuga failed to understand their rivals’ strategy and missed a golden opportunity of winning an international title.
The battle heated up in first set of match when the Thai shuttlers did waste time and launched an intensive attack. They made best out of their invasion and claimed many valuable points without any interruption.
This initial lead helped them to keep the opposing team at lower end in next couple of rallies. Ruethaichanok and Narissapat played with great precision and doubled the lead way before the mid-game break.
After the one-minute interval, they lost grip for a short span of time and allowed their challengers to narrow the gap on points table. However, the final stage of this set completely belonged to them and Sannatasah-Renuga surrendered after reading 15-21 score on the board.
The second set also proved a one-sided affair as the Thai campaigners ruled the court from very first stroke to the last one. On the other hand, Sannatasah and Renuga failed to end their bad patch and faced a woeful defeat.
The partnership of Ruethaichanok and Narissapat looked at its best throughout this crucial game. Both female shuttlers established a strong grip over game in the beginning and maintained that upper hand all the way to game point situation.
At first, they mounted pressure by registering a respectable total of 11 and then locked the honour by putting an overwhelming score of 21-14.
