  1. The best way to learn is by doing. If your kid is keen to play then your best bet is to take them to your local club and ask to be directed towards the coach for your kids age group.

The coaches will usually have the relevant qualifications and almost always will have played themselves in their youth.

I started playing in the under 9s age group after my dad (after much badgering) took me to watch a game at our local club. I played until I was under 15 and I was spending  rather too much time post match in the local A+E having my shoulder re located.

Dont let that put you off tho. That game worked wonders for my confidence and general well being. Its a great game

  2. Worldrugbyshop.com has a fair amount of books and DVDs - some of them may be suitable for adapting to a younger team. http://www.worldrugbyshop.com/department...

http://www.rugbyrelics.com/ also have a section of kids rugby books.
