i play rugby in Canada for several teams and im moving to northern California. Where should i play? How is the rugby there? is there anything i should know.

It's too big of a region to say where you should play without knowing exactly where you are moving.  Research the links found on the first page.  If there is more than one team in your area, go to their practices and see which one is a better fit for you.
