Rugby Position.?

I'm a 6'1", 12st 16 year old. I play for my college team who have players up to 18 years old. I run the 100m in about 11 seconds. My tackle breaking is immense and my tackling is improving (it's not great at the moment). Passing to the left is good, not quite so good to the right. Kicking is strong.

My question is, what position do you think i should be playing? Also where do you think i could be playing when i'm fully grown?

  1. come to rugby league your abilities and skills would be wasted in rugbyyawnion...

  2. Full back :)

    Good luck :D

  3. You probaly shuold play a position on right side, either on the front line or midfielder. You may also may want to continue working on weakness so you can find a position that feels best to you.

  4. Right wing and practise/improve your tackling skills. If you grow a bit more, put on some muscle etc., not fat, don't discover f**s, birds and beer, not necessarily in that order, inside centre.

  5. its been a while since I played rugby (like 7-8 years lol) but i would think either winger or full back. if your pacey, and have decent kicking - then they both seem good positions for you.

  6. By the sounds of the skills you mentioned, I'm guessing you're only looking at playing in the backs.

The obvious answer would be on the wing. No-one would argue with putting a big, strong tackle breaker with a decent bit of pace on the wing. Based solely on the given information, I'd say winger would be your best position.

But, really if you work on your tackling and distribution you'd make a solid centre. Also if you add a safe pair of hands under the high-ball and a good eye for the counter-attack then you could be a good full-back.

  7. Depends what style you enjoy. When i played rugby i always preferred rucking and the dirty work.If you like the physicality and contact with your pace you would be a very good 7(like Martyn williams,Richie mcaw, and Josh Kronfeld)and if you were to grow 2-4 inches you could play either flanker or No8.Also in the forwards passing is less important than in the backs.

If you favor running and staying away from forward work then you could play wing or full back(kicking is very important at fullback, how are you at catching the high ball?)

Centres play a versitile game of running and line breaking but also a lot of tackling and some scummaging help.

    Who are your favorite players?

  8. I'd say wing at the moment. If you bulk up a little maybe centre.

You're only 16 at the moment so you could grow another 3-4 inches. At a height of 6' 5 ot thereabouts, and a bit more muscle, and you could even be considered for second-row in some teams. Forwards these days are more than pit-props - fast, ball-carrying forwards are a godsend for any team. Keep up the hard training, seek more advice, concentrate on your fitness and nutrition, and most importantly stay off the booze and drugs.

It'll depend on the make-up of the rest of the team you're playing in. Nothing is for certain - look at Jona Lomu on the wing, compared with Shane Williams.

  9. 100m in 11secs!you seem to have the ingredients of a good winger, speak with your coach about playing(and training) on either wing and see how you perform.keep it up mate.who do you support and play for?

  10. You are definately a back. If you are a tackle breaker, centre would be best, but as you are speedy, you could be a winger. I would be a centre. (I wish I was as good as you!)
