  1. Tips for second row.

    1. Look up when in the scrum this makes it safer.

    2. If you don't wear a scrum cap Vaseline on your ears (stops Cauliflour ear) and makes it more comfortable.

    3. If the ball does come ot your feet don't be scared to tap it to the back.

Food just high energy i guess, so pasta or somehting with alot of energy before. When i play in long games or in between a good snack is oranges or so my coach says though i do feel the benefit. Other than that high energy foods chocolate things like that a few minutes before for fast burning, this is good if you have had a decent slow burning meal before.

    Hope its some help =]

Edit: Sorry if the cauliflower ear comment was incorrect, this is what my coach told me though it does make putting your head into the scrum easier.

    Sorry for the miss information.

  2. I'm sorry, I unfortunately can't give you information about being a second row because I'm a flanker/ hooker BUT I can tell you good things to eat and when to eat them...You will want to eat a good meal about 3 hours before your game. Then about a half hour before, eat half/ all of 1 protein bar. Immediately after a game, bananas, and oranges are GREAT to eat, NO HEAVY FOODS (like bagels, pretzles etc.). Drink water constantly, before the game, during and after the game (stay hydrated). Gatorade is also good to drink at some point after a game. Once you are done playing for the day, make sure to eat a complete and balanced meal, meaning meat, fruit, carbs etc. Good luck in the tourny! Bring as much intensity as you can to the game and leave it alllllll on the pitch :)

  3. Christopher, vaseline on your ears WILL NOT prevent cauliflowers!! Cauliflower ears are caused by a blow (or many blows) to the ear which results in internal bleeding. I have two of  them myself after a lifetime in the front row.
