Rugby Update: Eden Park all Set for Rugby World Cup 2011
An adaptable stadium idea in not so new and has been implemented by many countries after mutual consent of their concerning sports boards. Eden Park is the largest sports ground in Auckland, New Zealand. It is open for domestic cricket in summers and Rugby in winters. It was inaugurated in 1987 and has been host to Rugby League World Cup 1988. It has been set again for the two finals of Rugby World Cup 2011. With a capacity of 47,500 people at one time, Eden Park is ready to give 2011 the most anticipated Rugby final ever.
The ground has a great history in terms of New Zealand as it was the primary venue for British Empire Games sixty years back and it has also been home to Blues Super 14 team and Auckland Rugby Football Union. Eden Park has a long list of events in its history as far as Rugby is concerned including the International Test Rugby. The memorable Australia New Zealand final in 1988 that drew a sell-out crowd in Rugby League World Cup was played in Eden Park.

This year Category A undercover seats are surefire. After redevelopment, a new three-tier South stand and a new three-tier East stand will substitute the old South stands and the terraces respectively. This redevelopment will increase the number of covered seats from 23,000 to 38,000. The work has been carried out in Eden Park at quite a fast pace. Rugby World Cup 2011 is beyond its schedule now, which is a good sign, has bought a lot of time to the organizers to have an overview again, and will assure the quality of the event is maintained throughout the World Cup.
Director of Operations at RTH said: "The Eden Park Pavilion is the culmination of three years of intense planning. New Zealand has never before seen a purpose built structure of this magnitude and quality." Entertainment and luxury will be a major catch for the crowd. Pavilions have been designed to cater fans with New Zealand special cuisine and New Zealand’s fine vine. Alongside refreshments and food, entertainment will also be incorporated in the event to give it a festival environment.
