Rugby Update: Hodgson called to join England for Six Nations
Charlie Hodgson, who recently announced that he will be resigning from Sale Sharks to join Saracens, is called by England Squad for Six Nations. This announcement has just been a jiffy ago by Martin Johnson, the manager for England. Other then Hodgson, Louis
Deacon of Leicester Tigers and Joe Simpson of London Wasps have also been called to join the national team for this huge tournament.
David Attwood from Gloucester and Dominic Waldouck from London Wasps, who are injured, have been replaced by Deacon and Simpson respectively. Moreover, after addition of Hodgson in English side, they will be going for the tournament with the strength of
33 players.
The 21 years old Simpson will be making his first appearance for his national team England. The British squad consists of 14 players who are under the age of 25 and Simpson is one of them. Martin Johnson has selected quite a young side this time keeping
world cup in his mind, which is yet to come this autumn.
For temporary injuries of Tom Croft from Leicester Tigers and Courtney Lawes from Northampton Saints, replacements are yet to be decided. These two replacements will be announced by the end of this month.
England will be playing their opening match against Wales at Millennium Stadium at Cardiff on 4th February on Friday. Amongst all the changes, Hodgson is the most positive and long term move from the manager. Charlie Hodgson himself is desperate
to prove his position in the national team, due to the criticism he has been facing for not performing well in international matches.
James Gaskell and 20 year old Joe Marler are also among those changes that Johnson made. On the other hand, National Academy coaches, Simon Hardy and Jon Collard will be joining the head coach Stuart Lancaster this season.
Charlie Christopher Hodgson recently made news after shocking everyone in Premiership and specially his entire squad of Sale Sharks by announcing his resignation for the club. He said he had family and his needs in mind and this is the only reason he left
the club. He has committed to Saracens and has already signed a deal with them, whereas the chief executive for Sale Sharks said that he completely understands his situation and the club will always remember his services and achievements that he earned in
his long career at Sale Sharks.
