Rugby Update: McCaw Remains Loyal to the Black Jersey
Always being the masses favourite and the most happening player Richie McCaw yet again impressed his fans by his recent decision for staying in All Blacks as a captain. McCaw strongly opposed all the rumours that he will be leaving All Blacks and moving
up to North. He clearly stated that he would love to continue the legacy that New Zealand Rugby made in his tenure as a captain. IRB's Player of the Year McCaw indicated that he is looking forward to protract his international career as long as possible rather
than make a hasty and early move to North.
Fans have given a great feedback to this move as they were already disappointed by the decisions made by the other International players. Sonny Bill Williams and Dan Carter are expected to join the French clubs after this world cup. Many other Australian
and South African players are also in the pipeline, and are expected to join the French clubs after the world cup. McCaw revealed to Sunday Star Times this week that he's in dialogue with the New Zealand Rugby Union and is devoted to the black jersey. He
further added, "Rugby is a passion for me but enjoying it is the key. I loved it this year, I loved running out for an international and playing for the All Blacks, there's nothing better.” McCaw made it clear that the striking lights of Europe have
never been able to weigh against the running out for the All Blacks.
This act of his has turned heads and earned him more respect, as few Rugby greats have acknowledged this move. He received amazing comments from the legends.
"It is very clear by the way he plays the game he has a huge amount of pride and passion for that jersey. Despite the fact he earns pretty well, it is clear that he doesn't treat it like a job at all.", said Grant Fox.
Josh Kronfeld, "He offers probably more than anyone else to New Zealand rugby."
Former All Black captain Taine Randell said McCaw has always been and will persistently be, "outstanding for New Zealand rugby".
Like a true and loyal warrior, McCaw proudly stays in his national team not for himself but to carry on with the All Black tradition and to prolong the era of international Domination. McCaw beautifully concluded, "Those desires change as you move on
in your career, but you can't beat running out in front of 80,000 people at the Millennium Stadium or somewhere else and you'd be a mug to not want to do it for as long as you can.”. And as for moving on, he clearly showed his wish to see All Blacks playing
even after the world cup, he will give a verdict for his career when he will find it necessary and if it’s the right time.
McCaw's long-time teammate Dan Carter is currently weighing up several contracts from cashed-up English and French clubs. One of the clubs accused Dan Carter for asking crazy money. On the other hand, Thorn revealed that he will retire after the tournament.
After this world cup, All Blacks are expected to go through a lot of changes and transitions.
McCaw with 94 caps proved a lot in 2010 with All Blacks. They won two titles under his captaincy, firstly the Tri-Nations tournament and then they recently grabbed the Grand Slam Tour of Britain and Northern Ireland. McCaw being the only player to be honoured
three times with International Rugby Union’s player of the year has a great responsibility to carry out in 2011. In addition, his recent decision has shown his mettle and loyalty. This surely will leave a superior reflection for the current players and the
players yet to come. There is no second thought that it has been a standout year for the All Blacks.
The coming world cup will be a decisive moment for many international players who are having second thoughts of joining the French clubs. Many All Black players have been targeted and media has been criticizing, but Coach Graham Henry has silenced his many
critics and Captain Richie McCaw just seems to give them all what they wanted. On the face of it, New Zealand has every reason to feel certain about grabbing next year's World Cup.
